As you sleep I wonder if I haunt you if you see me lurking in the shadows of a past you left behind. I wonder if you carry the burden of breaking a heart. If it presses down on you creating a blackness inside. As you say goodbye to the day I wonder if images have caught your eye and remind you of me. A small snapshot of the person you used to love. In the quiet times I wonder if you hear my voice in your head, if you feel regret sorrow at the way things had to end. You left me in this hole with no warning stealing all my light now as I sleep of a night I wonder do you ever think of me at all? |

This is so universal in that it will touch many with the questions that many of us have probably asked ourselves at one time or another. Very well done Jenna!! |

The "time after a heartbreak" is packed with these thoughts and usually one part suffers more than the other, but I feel like affirming that no one is as indifferent, as to not think of a past love at least every now and then... Well written piece. Love, Margherita |

This reminds me of someone I left behind yes...and yes I think of her all the time. I broke her heart. For that, I pay the price every single day. Great poem! Felt from deep within. "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" |

I think sometimes a person misses the one they left behind and sometimes they are happy to be free of that person, or so involved in a new relationship that they have no time or desire for those memories...but somewhere down the road they come face to face with their feelings...as new experiences recreate the circumstances, and this time perhaps they are the victim...James |

This is very nice, and I'm sure many others can relate all too well with it. |
