      'Endless' Mountains

The last sunbeams dance
with astonishing Autumn hues
as twilight’s dark, divine
  grandeur
begins to cloak a thousand
  misty slopes,
where Time’s echoes resound
from these foothills of heaven,
to an immortal sky
of delicious and infinite mystery!

You've written this so convincingly that I can feel the mist on my arms and face and smell autumn again in those mountains I knew so well. This makes me so homesick I'm crying. You've captured it perfectly.

Secondhanddreampoet,

You've got those mountains nailed.  I used to like sitting in a backyard and watching the power lines coming over Brush Mountain in Altoona.

They're about the only things I miss about Altoona.

Nice, Bruce.
I have always lived where there are mountains. A few years ago I went to Texas, got off the plane and the land was flat, no mountains. I had never seen that before and it felt very strange. I think I would miss living in the shadow of the mountains very much.

~sigh~
"Time's echoes"
They are indeed, wrapped within these endless mountains. Some days I might say trapped...but today, the echoes "resound" and are wrapped in the arms of Gaia harmony.
