My neighbours are not human, I think they came from Mars
They wear these silly sweaters and drive in wooden cars
At night they put on music, which I don't understand
I think their son or daughter, is playing in a band

They greet me when I meet them, by kneeling to the ground
After that they shake my hand, while swirling me around
I've never been invited and don't know what they eat
They might be drinking liquid, or chew on bones and meat

They speak a funny language, can't understand a word
Still I know what they are saying, it really is absurd
Curtains of the purest gold, are hanging inside out
and on the lawn in jelly, is swimming this big trout

Their dog is rather something, his legs don't look alike
And sometimes he's not walking, but riding a red bike
He's barking at the postman and that seems not so weird
but he has yellow whiskers and also a pink beard

I wonder how they're sleeping, if ever they'll do that
I've never seen them crying, when they had lost their cat
This cat had seven eyebrows and walked on heels so high
I bet you must be thinking, that all this is a lie

Honestly, I cross my heart, that what I tell is true
I have some funny neighbours, but maybe you have too
And I just love my neighbours, though really weird they seem
Until I woke this morning, from my most funny dream

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

A great yarn ala Dr. Seuss. Really interesting and a good idea. You could have used I can't understand a word. But who cares! I spent some time in Amsterdam this spring and it was awesome. Can't wait to return.

Hey, "late", thank you for bumping this haha poem back up! I missed it when Titia posted it.

Titia, darling, we must talk. I have had similar neighbours! Oh, I just remembered, they were just a figment of my dream imagination!

Loved this! You have a great sense of humour and have the talent to express it very poetically!

Loves 'n laughs,

Linda

We must be eating the same things, Titia,
because I've been in your dreams...
