The stillness of midnight
quiets my mind in slumber-sound.
Dreams capture my thoughts,
or is it the other way around?

Sleep comes in bits and pieces,
mere minutes at a time,
until morning sun gently wakens
and bathes me in golden rhyme.
The words are never mine.
I simply borrow them
from a passing muse,
who sees fit to lay them at my feet
as if she were the golden goose.
I rarely struggle to find a word,
and sometimes fine music flows alongside,
like horses running as one in a pastured herd,
or colors banding side-by-side into a rainbow
after a refreshing caressing shower.
But the stillness of midnight
quiets body, mind and soul
when magical cloud-whispers fall
after the twilight's pure-air embrace,
while passionate lovers kiss, face-to-face.

That is when the dreams capture my thoughts.
Or is it the other way around?

Fine and interesting ‘write’!

I am especially fond of:
“Dreams capture my thoughts,
or is it the other way around?”;

“morning sun gently wakens
and bathes me in golden rhyme.
The words are never mine.
I simply borrow them
from a passing muse”;

AND:

“I rarely struggle to find a word,
and sometimes fine music flows alongside,
like horses running as one in a pastured herd,
or colors banding side-by-side into a rainbow
after a refreshing caressing shower.
But the stillness of midnight
quiets body, mind and soul
when magical cloud-whispers fall
after the twilight's pure-air embrace”

Applause!!

This is excellent.

"Dreams capture my thoughts,
or is it the other way around?"

A perfect concept of the poetic dynamic.

I found this jewel from way back in the archives, hadn't read it before, glad I found it. It's too good to let pass.

Oh, and I am also glad Ida  brought this up. My limited time sometimes prevents me from reading all I would like to. This is beautiful. "Late"

Magical atmosphere rendered with mastery.

What an adorable poem you wrote here. Midnight is my favorite time, all is so quiet and peaceful. Everybody asleep but me.
Merry Christmas dear friend.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow
