I watch you slip between the lines. As your cadence begins to slow, a pale ashen hue emanates from your brow where an amber glow should be, as furrowed memories etch themselves in deep sighs amid short shallow breaths. If time were all that told one's tale, yours would be a novel. But you sequestered yourself years ago, and so the stories are mere repetitions of livelier days. The touch of others rejected, it is as if your time on earth stopped when he left you so long ago. And now, frozen time-slips are all that remain, as you wait the reapers-call. I watch you slip between the lines wondering where your heart did go. |

a most powerful, emotive 'write'! I am grandly fond of: "frozen time-slips(!)" I believe this has become one of the loneliest societies in the history of the world...and ever-increasing numbers of people end up rather 'forgotten'...with empty lives of 'quiet desperation' which would have to improve considerably just to be labeled 'tragic'! I know this particular 'story' all too well! Applause for this penning!! |

Yes... quite true! Ms. Midnitesun and Ms. ArtSolstice (both of whom grace these blue pages of "P.I.P.-land" with their grandly erudite and finely crafted thoughts) are the 'biggest hearts' [innate (empathic/compassionate) 'secular humanists' and environmentalist/'natural philosophers'] that I have known! |

Humble thank yous, for these warmest comments. This is indeed, a poem of one individual's reality, a reality I fear is multiplied coast-to-coast. |

grin--I had a bad moment and thought you meant ME!!! (Well, my stories are old, but I have to wait for the legal protection of the statute of limitations to tell 'em--and besides, my family got hep to me and now they glare at me threateningly, "Do not put this on the internet!" ![]() Who, ME? ![]() Ah, Sistah Kacy--we just really don't know what goes on in people's lives. After reading this, and feeling bad about me, I realized I had completely forgotten everything I've gone through in the past six years... Give me boredom, I say! Nice write, lovely one! OH. And I've located my heart. The cardiolite was extremely helpful in that regard. But here's an extra for you! ![]() |

I am reminded of my elderly maiden great aunt, whose life stopped when she lost the love of a man that she had adored more than life. Hers was a sad, long and drawn-out, demise as well. May both these woman find love, peace, and joy on The Other Side. Love & Eternal Light, Linda |
