August becomes cicadas with red eyes Shattering bee balm along hillsides Into the thousand echoes of loosestrife now ragged In dust and dew becoming scarce Does but move along the hoar of leaves To stick to fine hair I breathe blue sage air into lungs found empty When I exhaled the images of wild tangles Combed through fingers A soft soft flight of lunar moth to land Sternum split upon iron cleave stuck in hard ground Footsteps still upon new grass The moon creeps along the garden path to grace Bare shoulders in lace of shadow veil To hide your eyes from all that might see Dilated pupils pleased I play the breeze and cover your skin With the cool midnight blue of astilbe as it grows Along the clavicle of bed An articulation of leaves and stem to bring 53 petals upon the ground a covering white where shed is now bare I gaze upon cinnamon and tatted vines Dressed with care To reveal slow seduction of skin to green My jealous eyes devour an August sound Of cotton slid to pool at ankles Stepped free I might begin to see How the days of dogs brought relief from The heat that drove Honeysuckle to climb a bound fence Twined among the rose I gather the sharp legs of cricket to bone letting marrow seep alone through dry soil Pricking fingers upon the spines And discarded shells of cicadas Red eyed as they in short lived cling Rend August nights of dreams And I bleed with lilies along woods edge A death of wet pillowed whorl fading soft I find my bed And you Wrapped in blue shawl of morning glory Await Awake The moons last drench of light Bringing soft whispered names Sweet pea pinked slow blooms And Forget-me- Not~ To August rains |

Dressed with care To reveal slow seduction of skin to green My jealous eyes devour an August sound Of cotton slid to pool at ankles Stepped free I might begin to see How the days of dogs brought relief from The heat that drove Honeysuckle to climb a bound fence Twined among the rose such sensual writing C, M |

I breathe blue sage air into lungs found empty ~*~ When I saw this line, I knew I would be home again, and then more lines tumbled in, a wild weed of thought roaming to find a resting place, and it all became mine...and not mine. Thank you so much for sharing again. You've been missed. |

Ron, dear .... I am amazed at the places this poem took me...so filled with color and sensual underlying dusk. I loved it. At first while I read, I thought of a child's art when they pour color on a paper and fold it in half...then press. Like a butterfly, dressed, then undressed. |

Your use of imagery is so masterful Ron, downright captivating one could say. Absolutely, lovely. Definately, enjoy reading you. So glad that you have returned, for however long that time will allow us to have you amongst us again. Indeed, pleasure sir. |

a very fine ‘write’!... I am particularly fond of: “August becomes cicadas with red eyes”; “I breathe blue sage air into lungs found empty When I exhaled the images of wild tangles Combed through fingers A soft soft flight of lunar moth to land”; AND: “relief from The heat that drove Honeysuckle to climb a bound fence Twined among the rose” Serious applause!! |
