Half the moon owned the sky As the other half lay with the shadows Cast from far away in a languish of waning days As marked the ebb of tides upon distant sand Bereft of daffodils or calla yet bloomed
Wilhelm paused with quill to listen As old again the tales being told Blended within him too as his mind drifted To the beauty of her sitting within the quiet eyes of dusk Encouraging the ancient crone to speak on in Another tale of cautionary gloom
‘Big teeth to eat you” he heard and scribbled with fine pen the lines but found himself thinking of how it would be to bind such fair skin as hers in silk as he became the wolf that devoured her innocence with a greedy tongue and slow words of pleasure as he could not publish in a children’s tale yet could scribe in a script of fingers on the pale vellum of hip before erasing them in whisper of lips and tongue speaking language yet born to the half moon or imagined by the family Grimm
I roused within the ache of lying too long Upon the sinew and bones of old nights To find dog-eared pages fanning with rustle Upon breeze of open window as the half moon shaded grey lace on words as they flip paged into the dreams of Wilhelm and those I had of you
Groan of move stilled upon half breath Found light enough to add the lamp So weak eyes could follow lines written such a long age ago Of baskets taken forth while dressed in red hood Old wolves prowled paths as led to glen But my mind did not find innocence within And wandered to the shape of leg beneath draping cape As the canine heart beat in slow watch Craving fruit crushed upon skin Leaving breathless fair her who would lie with him
So shadowed realm of half moon stalked The tick and swing of pendulum Stretching dark fingers under words that I might follow on The tale between lines of Grimm with tired eyes That bled bloodshot upon small shivers of pale lens Till I had to rise and move pooled blood within legs And relieve the ache of ages spent within dreams And lines written upon white pages I soiled with dust Then creased to float for some short while Under the sky as she discarded her necklace of stars And grew pale in skin
Half owned by light of waning moon Midnight passes yet again and Wilhelm gathered up stained pages daring to brush against her arm as he rose to go then swore within he heard the inhale a short take of breath as they touched and her lean into him

This captures the true flavor of Grimm for me. Dark and delicious - some incredible imagery.
Once again, I am fortunate to have such teachers.

Hi Ron...I enjoyed your twist on this story, but more, the sound of your delivery is so well tuned...it must be a musical. I'm glad to see you back today!

a most interesting ‘write’!
I am particularly fond of:
“Half the moon owned the sky As the other half lay with the shadows Cast from far away in a languish of waning days As marked the ebb of tides upon distant sand Bereft of daffodils or calla yet bloomed”;
“So shadowed realm of half moon stalked The tick and swing of pendulum”;
AND:
“relieve the ache of ages spent within dreams”
applause!!
