you know the man next door checks his mail diligently then spies into a neighbors box his lady friend across the street opens the door to look both ways before she sees a another postman in deep concentrated thought about what another person does what does the other person do to please in the daylight steal a look in clear view you know the woman next door wears fruit on her head has her own curiosity it peaks with the mail about the man who has the extra shave it never nicks its all about intentions at doorstep letterboxes when you gaze otherwise who cares what they think of appearances... why once wigs carried sailboats surely there is room for an orange in a still life by Cezanne part of the composition broken touches of veridian and Parisian blue... room for letter openings mailbox treasure hunts, although the neighbors might disapprove |
