The seagulls fly celebratory style over the joining of sea and shore and I know of one standing there not forlorn but knowing the shore will lose what it’s come to adore. The sea will move in time with tide and through the years the briefest touch will awaken the shore and remind love cannot be denied. The spirit in sea alive and free knows the shore is bound and tied by the nature of its mind but the sea still calls and I can hear anguish behind the roar. The sea can’t be still, the shore cannot move, yet the seagulls still fly - celebratory style. Helen / 30 July 2007 |

Hi Helen Time moves so slowly for the shore...and the sea is so steady in it's claim on tide....the bird can fly, yet is dependent on the land just like you and I. Perhaps love is the only sure thing, or is it? I've missed you. |

Hi Martie - Love is indeed the only sure thing but perhaps many of us don't know it intimately enough to know that. Hope you are keeping well. Love Helen |

This one feels very sad. Full of yearning. I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for sharing. |

What perfect observation, Helen, and it flows nicely....you must have been sitting on the shore when you wrote it. ....jo |

When my daughter was very young I would take to a local beach and she would run along the sand chasing gulls and mimicing their shrill cry. When her little legs needed to rest she would stand with hands on hips and the gulls would circle around her, waiting. Thank you for the memory. |

Thank you all so much for your responses. Jo - no, just remembering the ses. icebox - I'm so glad to have brought forth such a special memory. The seagulls must know a thing or two. |
