No Maggie, Nicholas chuckled I decidedly would not like you to Make that damnedable red suit for me, unless The notion of having me stomp around the house in it Gives you more spark than you already have If that be so, I guess you could sew some fur To the cuffs of my old union suit Though, I’m not aware of any ermine around here I suppose I could trap you a couple of nutria Otherwise, it’d be impractical Where else could I wear such a get-up? Unless I decide to get a job in the city Standing on a corner with a bell and a bucket Or at a department store, spending the day Having children confess to me, their avarice No Maggie, t‘was always best to mine a child’s True wants from the dark cave of their dreams So, I’ll go feed the dogs, maybe toss some hay Over the fencerow, all the while thinking about The long winter ahead, the warmth of our blankets And the way your hips move beneath your nightdress [This message has been edited by wranx (01-01-2008 08:13 PM).] |
