Christmas Joy

T’was the night before Christmas
at home by the fire.
so weary and knackered we thought we’d retire,
but then we both heard it, a knock on the door,
and chaos descended in one mighty roar.
Our children and grandkids,
so lovely to see,
alas they all come when it’s time for our tea.
So screaming and fighting,
no time now for rest.
grandparents must always
remain at their best.
No matter how tired,
whatever the pains,
there’s pleasure in joining
the kids in their games.
The time comes for leaving
they turn with a smile
and back out the door
now they’ve stayed for a while.
So shattered but happy
we creep to our bed,
to rest till the morrow
when they’re back to be fed!

Ivor G Davies

The moment created this second, is a  moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

How true! This was lovely!

Christmas is felt much more when there
are children to include in the celebrations.

Love and Joy.

Hi Ivor

"Here is a boy with five small loaves of bread and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many people?"

I think you should change your name.....

I found the true spirit
It was very handy
England came first
Drank in with Brandy
Eight hours later
Still feeling fine
New year came again
Canadian time
The good thing of course
That has to be said
I was still drinking
When you went to bed…

I've had mine, but for an intermittent day or two, for the last two months now.  Love them to pieces, but have decided to employ a cloaking device!  My feet have been screaming for days.   )

Loved this one Ivor!

Ivor-
This brought such a huge smile to my face remembering these times within my own life. My family has spread to the proverbial winds, so these memories are all that I can have, now...
Thank you.

What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail?.

As the first day of this year wanes’
The spirits decline
Then out with the port a tasty old wine
To Toast a good time with plenty to come
Two thousand and eight is bound to be fun

Christmas Joy

As more join the memories
(and some even in rhyme)
it is clear that near all
had a wonderful time
some with their families
and some on their own
and some sharing love
on the end of a phone.

Spare a thougt for the lonely
and those who have past
for nothing's forever
and most things don't last
but the warmth in our hearts
when all's said and done
is born of the times
when we had the most fun.

So live for the moment
and share in good chear
as together we welcome
another new year
put fun into living
in all that you do
believe in the magic
and make it come true.

Once again thanks for the support of everyone on the site for continuing to tollerete my ramblings.

Ivor

Welcome the Changes in 2008

Just phoned my  Dad-in-law
He's doing great
First met him in Belfast
In nineteen sixty eight
He hasn't changed much
He knows the score
We still laugh and joke
Though he's now eighty Four
Back then tween the riots
I would call in for tea
With my automatic handy
In case we got company
I courted his daughter
While I set Ulster free
Now I can laugh
She did the same to me….

Life has been so much fun...I laughed till I cried...You know that feeling when you cant speak because you are laughing so much the tears roll down your cheeks
