I ALWAYS FORGOT

I always forgot your birthday
I still don't know its date

And Father's day was always missed
Or remembered days too late

I always forgot to thank you
When thanks were more than justified

And now I'm trying to forget
The date on which you died

But one thing I remember
And please God I hope you knew

That Always and Forever Dad,

I will love and remember you

Today is my Father's birthday and I can't remember the day he died ... strange how the brain works...

And I can remember my sister's death  clearly but she passed an hour after my birthday while I was laying next to her.

Happy Birthday to all who have passed on no matter the day~~
A very thoughtful post

M,

I came across this by Wernher Von Braun just after my Father died. I hope you get as much comfort from it as I did. God Bless & Merry Christmas

Having just lost my own father (and my mother 4 weeks earlier) last year, I was especially moved by your touching poem.

"That Always and Forever Dad,

I will love and remember you"

~ and John, he knows! ~ Now, more than ever!

Linda & M, My thoughts are with you both at this time of festive family gatherings. We never get over the loss of a loved one but with the help of  the friends & family that remain, we do get through it.Thank you for posting a reply.
