And Beyond

I know you are there, beyond the words
that can only reach so far.
Understanding the warmth of the hands
that leave my mind with second thoughts.

I knit them, those thoughts,
so that no thread is left unknotted
to drag on or snag upon the past.

I pattern them after the weaving of wishes,
the light of tomorrow, "the silence of song"
that only two can share as the seasons turn.

I hide my findings, press them to my mind
to celebrate the memories that might have been,
as I study the reflections on the ornaments of time.

Each a creation of treasured moments
when love could "dance me through a storm"
and a shadow was more than flickering candlelight,
and touch could lift me beyond the stars.

I consider this the finest ‘write’ by this author
that I have read so far!

I am especially fond of the ending:

“celebrate the memories that might have been,
as I study the reflections on the ornaments of time.

Each a creation of treasured moments
when love could "dance me through a storm"
and a shadow was more than flickering candlelight,
and touch could lift me beyond the stars.”

Serious, sustained applause!!

Truly exquisite, dear Maureen!

And now put the past into the present form ... the stars and beyond will welcome you back!

Love,
Margherita

Thank you for all the kind responses...

I appreciate everyone here at pip for allowing me to post my thoughts and feelings and the challenges over the years. (It is much cheaper than seeing a psychiatrist)

and wishing  the best to all for the coming year.
