The Facing Page

have I made you wait too long
in chill of night with wrinkled sheets
I too take the darkness gathered
smoothing frayed edges lonely
picking at threads loosely hanging
days ink pours quicker at night
a well that never ceases to run dry
daily I struggle with the blank
missing the facing page of my life
it is not something frivolous or forgotten
and words unsaid whisper in my heart
can you hear them above your own tears
salt is a flavor I have come to recognize
a taste uneasy but acutely acquired

"no darkness has ever been deep enough to extinguish my personal knowledge of love"  Anne Rice

Wonderful metaphor, excellent substance...this one yields resonance long after the read.  I'll be back for seconds.

Hello Helen....."days ink pours quicker at night"  Yes, I can see how this could be true, as I see it here from you.

I also wanted to say a thanks for your reply to me and let you know I was touched by it.  Thank you.
