As I sauntered along the sylvan fields, Of my bucolic realm; The site of my 'lesser' people, Caused me grief of sudden overwhelm; The way their children were nurtured, With immense pain and sorrow; Food , clothing , shelter and life, Is what they had to borrow; Choices had already been made for them, They just lived to die; No knowledge of joy or mirth, Their life was all awry; Children , toddlers and infants, With potbellies and gloomy eyes; Craving for a drop of milk, With traumatic weeps and cries; Mothers in their early youth, Exploited over ends; Robbed of humanity in such a manner, Even God himself couldn't mend; Fathers roaming for a piece of work, A little money that could just help; To pull their families out of this misery, To end their children's yelp; Hoaries in their ailing age, Begging for a piece of bread; With eyes filled with tears, And a heart that spoke of dread; Children used as oxen, To plough the fields of the rich; Made to work in wealthy houses, Looked upon as contemporary kitsch; Families and families dying, Drowning in the floods of destitution; And even now the wise and wealthy, Make deplorable contributions; Such in my country is the life of the 'poor', Who are considered nothing but dirt; Who are made to live a life inferior, A life of pain , agony and hurt; But..... You , Me and every soul, That treads on this land; Are born the same and consistent, Created by the same hand; Dawned with harmony and agreement, To be equal over time; We are but the Poet's thought, Of the same , righteous rhyme; Then why is one inferior, To the other of the same kind; Why is one so opulent, Magnificence , the other would never find; Why is one so wealthy, The other so penurious; This diversity , thus created, Mirth is nothing but just spurious; Why have we divided ourselves, On the basis of pieces of paper; Why have we enriched our knowledge, When in the end , we want our thoughts to taper; Why does one , wear a crown, And the other not even shod; Why do we consider some 'wealthy', And some 'The Children Of The Lesser God'...... |

Excellent poetry, chickoo007! Indeed, why? Good questions we all should ask. |

Only if we ask the right questions can we find the right answers the problem being we fear the right questions as they say things we are not ready to accept these are some WHYs that i felt were essential but many more still need to be asked Thanks iliana |

...SAVED faster than you can ask "Why?"! ![]() For me, the concept of reincarnation helps in my understanding of the inequality of birth. We're all works in progress and have experienced a variety of lifetimes. Not only is this a marvellous piece of writing, it is one of great import, as well. God bless everyone! EA ![]() |
