I am from a land of ancient tall trees where the grass is green and the sea of blue washes the sand clean I am from a man delivered of a woman who gave nothing but love and for whom I had none I am from a childhood of dreams and visions of friends denied as figments of an overactive imagination I am from the love once found but lost in dying cast upon the shadow world forlorn of ever finding it again I am from many journeys in the killing fields and beyond of a crazy world where politicians were never wrong I am from the darkness of a mind gone wrong in forgetting to remember yesterday Ultimately I am lost from the love that could sustain me in the finality of human frailty and penultimate fall from grace |

Excellent piece and response to Patricia's challenge! (But I hope you are not lost from love forever.) |

"Ultimately I am lost from the love that could sustain me in the finality of human frailty and penultimate fall from grace" Yes, it always seems that way when what is inside doesn't come out. Perhaps the reason for that is "choice". Some can know but not know what the ultimate result of that choice is but even in the "not knowing" there can be an ever present sadness for those who are lost. Good to see your words again! |

Please know that extreme external pressure upon a lump of coal, can morph it into a beautiful, multi-faceted diamond! A very moving "I Am From" journey. EA |

Honeybunch, Helen, Probably locked away too long and some of the choices proved wrong. Perhaps a compass would prevent further loss. |

I ache with your sadness. My favourite line is the first. My second favourite is all the rest. Earth Angel's response is, as you say, so sustaining and so her. - Owl |

There is so much power in this poem. So much to think about - to mull over and return to. Fine writing. A I am from a man delivered of a woman who gave nothing but love and for whom I had none Amazing writing! |

Chanson, D, The compass remains functional as long as there are no magnets nearby. A pleasure to see you still visit. |

OwlSA, The sadness comes from experience, and the experience allows recognition to put it in it's place. Thank you for your comments. |

passing shadows, Dixie, normally by the time I manage to write something for a challenge it has long been buried, for once the brain was quick enough. Or maybe it was the mood I was in. |

F, thank you but the pleasure to read you is mine. I actually sat down to write a poem today (it would have been my first poem in 3 or 4 years) but it ended up in the trashcan. Since I can't write, I take pleasure in reading others' fine poetry and musings. Keep it coming, please. |

Honeybunch, H, then I may be related to an Ostrich with my head always buried in the sand, a most unbecoming stance as one always has their rear stuck up in the air. |

tp - Hmm? And that brings us back to choice, you know. If one chooses to be like an ostrich then one must know one is going to be kicked or pushed face down onto the ground. Even angels could not resist that open invitation. Okay, I'll stop now that we've come back to the start of it all, i.e. "choice". Be well and ... "know"! Helen |
