An Ashtray's Agony Every insult she threw my way was as fiery as each cigarette drag that followed. The ashtray on the table also felt her wrath, as each arrogant puff ended with a flicking of ashy anger into its depths. The blackness kept growing within us as her onslaught continued until she delivered the final, heart-searing blow and walked out the door for forever. I looked at the ashtray, with the butt still smoldering in its center - and I knew its pain. |

That was an incandescant poem, I could see all those flicks and especially that last vicious stab into the heart of the ashtray. Pete |

Powerfully stated! Powerfully felt by this reader! Fantastic write ~ however, I feel for the pain you must be experiencing. Unless, this was purely poetry ~ and very realistic and impassioned poetry at that! EA |

Nah, this is isn't something that has happened to me recently. This poem was inspired of an event that happened about ten years ago. Long over it and much happier now. |
