from under the velvet mouthing
of our whispering considerations
there to be the sky blue simmering
before our lava laughter
of the jacks on jills of love

appearing nightly in dreamer's hands
queenless kings and kingless queens
playing our deuces gone wild
without the playful prayers
that our jokers would never cry

we were the twin givers giving
always with empty handed hands
closing fingers around the sands
that had more water than rivers
but still they craved the moisture

of another perhaps in time to deal
something of a two of a kind
a pair of aces face to face
and back to back well beyond
just the shuffeling of our souls

as we left our decks markless
