One knows those eyes of yours' had tales to tell
none other than a promise not for sale
events conspired that I witheld my plea
that had been voiced would likely to have failed

How strange that over time the things one feels
inspire such thoughts as these that they repeat
now others' tales are told in your place, go
God speed your image as if out to sea

and if our paths should cross, perhaps some sign
long slumbered may awake yet, even so
were this to happen as I dream tonight
again I might be tempted still, although

your eyes divulged what truth lay hidden there
such tales as yours' could bring one to despair

I wrote a perfectly horrible sonnet about how I wished I'd never shared my words--and I was thisclose to posting it for you, but then I realized the irony.

Once we write them, they are like seed on the wind...

I should leave this to the artists like you, and save my craftwork for punchlines only.

(And I followed your pattern, but I still don't get the stresses, and even following the syllable count annoyed me to migraine. I have no idea how you do this stuff. )

But I'm very glad you do.

A refined write and you touched a chord with this one. Much enjoyed.

serenity,
Sorry about that migraine, yer a doll fer puttin' up with me. Won't bother with how it's done, just that I find working within the constraints of any given form challenges me to rethink and rephrase things using wording that I normally wouldn't.Thanks.

Doc.......I've always thought of your poetry as an inspiration to do better with my own...just as now.

Martie,
Thank you, and, thanks again for putting up with all my shortcomings.
