Manna From Above

by Linda L. Dowd

There are many reasons and whys for our being,
Yet many know not what it is that they’re seeing.
For there’s infinitely more than what’s seen by the eye,
And one’s measure of merit reaches far beyond sky.

Each soul is created with challenges and gifts.
There are trials, and blessings, and life-altering shifts.
The road that’s less traveled may be harder to walk,
But the lessons thus learned, provide knowledge for talk.

Embrace all the Good that the Universe offers.
There are riches galore in God’s spiritual coffers.
The wealth of a man is not guaged by his gold,
But by the friendships he has and the love that they hold.

Each day that we rise, there’s a reason for living.
We’re to work and to share ~ with hearts that are giving.
We’re to laugh and to play and rejoice in God’s Love,
And dance in the Manna that rains from Above.

“We are borne of star dust,
and to the stars we shall one day return.”
~ Linda L. Dowd

I have often wondered just what I am here for. I don't think I will ever know.
Linda, this is beautifully written. You always write such beautiful poems.

Each day is a blessing! I was asked what I wanted for Christmas this year...I said,
I have everything I need, clothes, food, a warm home, friends, and my health...these are my gifts all year long.

Christmas has became too materialistic,
I love the Grinch movie, cartoon. IT should be about giving, helping others in need, I just watched "Scrooge" my favorite, the "Bristish version with Alaster Sims"
a great way to kick off the holiday...

Jesus is our manna from above...our daily bread...he is what Christmas is all about!

sorry I was so longwinded..lol...

Hugs~ARH....

Good for you for this mind provoking poem!

ARH ~

I also believe that if we are thankful for even the smallest of blessings, we are opening ourselves up for more blessings to follow. Our show of gratitude for what we do have will bring more gifts in our lives than if we were to dwell on that which we do not have.

Be well! Be happy!

Patricia, it truly is wonderful to see you back at pip.

When my poetry reaches out and touches someone, that is extremely gratifying. I hope that this poem may offer some comfort to your friend.

I am sending both of you a loving, healing hug,

EA
