Trying to Say

I do better when I don't speak;
my words tend to get wrapped around my being
The taste of my foot a bitter reminder
that I'm not the speaking kind.
and there is no rewind in verbal word-age...

But I want you to know, I feel every word you say
and some you don't--
even if my mouth cannot correctly chew them
to spit out again verbatim...
I hope I never take the unspoken
and turn it unrecognizably to face you as a stranger...
I want to know what's on your mind
All of everything that's on your mind,
how ever warped or unpleasant it may be
But forgive me if I feel it as if it were my own
     I do that;
If you'd give it to me, I'd call it mine
But as long as it is yours--and it is--
I hope you'll share it with me.
I hope you'll let me do what I do;
     Listen...
I will listen as often as you will let me.
I may not call, but know you're on my mind.
I may not look you up, but know I want to be
where you are.

I know...
you're not ok.
It's a spare question
stupid to ask.
Forgive me...?

Just checking in on you.
Just letting you know
     however awkward it is
     for me to use verbal words...
that I love you.
I just wanted to say, I'm still here
whenever you need me to be
wherever you'd like to find me...

My prayer for you is for guidance
My hope is that you'll walk within the pith of your own being
where all God-given answers are scattered
Though it may take a while to find your way,
you will find it;
You are strong
You, my friend, are courageous
Even as you stumble...

I hope
your phone receiver has relayed such message to you
as this;
This is what I was trying to say...

I do so enjoy your writing.  It just speaks to me.  When I see your face as I open your poems, I smile and think - yes, I will identify with the words.  And, I do.  Thank you.

wonderful advice in a delicate, sensitive, beautifully rendered poem.

I know... I'm late...
but I'm here now...

i understand this feeling...

"I do better when I don't speak;
my words tend to get wrapped around my being
The taste of my foot a bitter reminder
that I'm not the speaking kind.
and there is no rewind in verbal word-age..."

but though your head may sometimes
struggle with the words?... your heart
always speaks loud and clear...

and this?...

"Just letting you know
     however awkward it is
     for me to use verbal words...
that I love you.
I just wanted to say, I'm still here"

he knows...

love you...

"When the power of love overcomes the love
of power the world will know peace."
