On his day off, my husband would say, "I think I'll wash and wax the car today." And as he prepared to accomplish this task he had just a few little questions to ask.... Where's the bucket? I need some soap. I can't find the car wax. Bring me one of those small trash bags. Where's that long-handled brush? Got any old rags? Now, let me see, What happened to that long extension cord? I'm getting thirsty, could you make up some tea? And plug in the vacuum cleaner, please. Could you bring me the windex and some more of that tea? That was hard work, I'm totally beat Well, I sure worked up an appetite, anything to eat? When he'd finally finished he'd give himself a pat on the back and head for the couch for a little nap. While I would take a moment to catch my breath. For he had indeed washed the car and yet, I had a suspicion that I had been duped. Since he'd washed the car how come I was so pooped? Ida Werrett |
