November birthed me
on a rainy day,
and gloom set in right away.
But I surprised the family
with an indomitable will to live
and fought off all the odds.
Frigid winters chilled these bones.
Stark reality often numbed this heart
into believing there would be
no Spring for me.
Yet here I am again,
having seen many springs,
and looking forward to many more.
Yes, November can be brutal,
but ‘tis my birth month,
so shall always be welcome
on my calendar.

I'm glad someone finds something to 'appreciate' about November!...(other than
Turkey-day)...is there anyone out there that loves February as well?!!

Ms. Midnitesun certainly writes well (even on such a dismal topic as November!)

applause!

Well, Bruce...I think I'll wait until February to 'spring' that one on you.

It is just as well that you fought off all the odds, Kacy, not just for you, not just for your family, not just for everyone you have ever met, but for all of us at PIP as well.  I don't want to imagine a world - or PIP - without you - it would be so much the poorer.

Perhaps one of the reasons God let you struggle then, was to create the wonderful, beautiful, caring, strong spirit we all know and love - and perhaps another is so that you could write us the sparkling gem now.  Thank you.  Into my Midnitesun folder it goes, to savour offline along with all the other Midnitesun poems I have kept.

I have noticed,(sadly) that most of the really good poets are men. I think women tend to dwell too much on personal romance
and relationships to the exclusion of all else. You are one of the exceptions and can hold your own with anyone. We need more representatives like you. By the way I like November too though I was born in March.

Dear Kacy thank you for this ... it touched me on more than one level.

(This week, little Milo - my second grandson - has arrived into our world, one month early, but we see that he has those qualities you remember as your own, he is so small, but he is showing his will to overcome the initial problems. Such a blessing!)

Two of my life long friends are November "girls", another gift to be grateful for. And I am grateful for you, dear Kacy, for gracing these Pip pages with your impactful, intelligent, wise, beautiful and warm presence.

Love and hugs.

Oh, Dear Midnitesun -- these words remind me of a friend who, in response to the job interview comment "You're overqualified for this job", replied, "I was overqualified to be a member of my family, but that didn't stop me." (She got the job.)

The glass really is half full, isn't it?
