What the sculptor beholds in his visions of stone
statuesque in its' rending in marble or bronze,
or the painter envisions within his minds' eye
is akin to what's found in the kingdom of words.

One need only to look with an unbiased heart
on the beauty that dwells past the physical plane,
much the same as true artisans elevate art
such is the case in the kingdom of words.

As with any artform, one need only believe
in one governing truth, which we take for our own,
then to fashion a way to define what we see
to be art as it is in the kingdom of words.

Where the vistas and views touch eternitys' shores
neither cottage nor castle will change such beliefs.

Let's give your Kingdom of Words another go, Dr. Moose. I rather like it.

ARGHHHH---

why is this just sort of sittin' down here?

BUMP-diddy-BUMP!

Doc--y'gotta help me. I have a poetic disorder. I can't SCAN.

But there's hope for me, maybe?

Because I do have a pretty good ear, and I strongly suspect this is... perfect metrical SOMETHING.

(I just don't know whut. )

Now I've been popping all over these forums for years, looking for the antidote to my sloppy metrics--so would you be so kind as to scan this for me?

I read this and said AHA--this is what I want! So indulge the poor gal with an Rx, will ya?

I am an earnest admirer, and perplexed that you don't have a trail of replies after this'n.

Besides--I've missed you.

Hi Doc

then to fashion a way to define what we see
to be art as it is in the kingdom of words.

Yes, we need only believe.  Your poetry always inspires me to do better.

Serenity,
Thanks. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by " Scan ", but I'll do my best.
You are quite correct, it's done in anapestic trimeter. I've substituted repetition for rhyme and hoped that the meter and subject would carry it through.
As for your Rx, I hope this helps.

Oh my dear! It would seem I've misplaced my black bag !
What's a Doctor to do without pills to prescribe ?
You had hoped ( anapestically speaking of course )
for a prescription fix, not a quacks' diatribe!

But ,oh well, as you see what we're dealing with here
is a case where the accent is placed on the third,
like a dance if you will with four beats to the line
da da Dum , da da Dum, you're trimetrically cured!

It's a pleasure as always to hear from you dear,
and I hope my Rx made some sense after all
anapestic trimeter's not that hard to take
and will work in a pinch for a " scriptless " house call.

Thanks again,
Doc

Martie,
Thanks so much . Your words have often served as inspiration also.
