You KNOW you live in the country
when the turkeys come 'Strutting Their Stuff'
On a platter on Thanksgiving Day
they'll surely be tender enough~

~*Here they came this afternoon, strutting their stuff across the front lawn*~
~They obviously love the neighborhood, cause they're still out there~
*These are not the usual 'wild' turkeys that we see around here*

Wow that is odd Marge!
And if I were them I would be high-tailing it out of there!
So funny!
Love you, Nancy

Marge,

You made me laugh
you captured them with more than the camera!

We used to raise turkeys
and they were so curious and always poking around trying to see what we were doing.

Thanks for sharing this fun poem

Marge!  Beautiful turkies. Cute poem! I don't know if I'm going to cook one this year, though.

My daughter has a flock of wild turkeys that have adopted her back yard, but since they live in town, and everyone likes them as they are...unplucked!  They're quite safe.

Your poem is a thankgiving smile.

What a parade you captured here, dear Marge.

I don't want to think of the "development" of these pictures!

Smiling and giving grace for all the beauty we witness!

Love and hugs.

Strutting their 'stuffing'! Great shots, Marge!

Gosh, I have to tell myself that turkeys grow on trees ~ otherwise, I could never be able to eat turkey meat! I actually just take a tiny bite of turkey ~ and dig into everything else! Our Thanksgiving was in October.

I'll bet they're from a turkey farm
Having heard of impending harm
Escaped and now at large
They feel safe and protected by Marge.

Happily gobbling about her shot
A click, a flash, but pain was not
When they investigate her gun
She smiles, "I'm gobbly glad you've come!"

That had to be a real surprise seeing them on your lawn.  Thanks for sharing, Marge.

I agree these are very smart turkeys.  They've gone to Marge for protection.  They know she only shoots with her eager camera. Hope they make it through the season.  we have a troop of turkeys in our little town of LaConner.  They are protected by the town fathers.  Their past is a mystery.  Thanks Marge.  Joyce

Hi Marge;  Great pictures and enjoyed the accompanying poems.

We too have many wild turkeys here but I see they are much darker than yours. Not much variation in the color of their feathers, as there is in yours either. Interesting to see the difference.

Your pictures are great. How cool that you have turkeys in your yard. They know you are a safe haven.

Marge. Had to share this with my daughter Jackie. For many years, since she was in highschool until  her son was going to kindergarten, she worked on a turkey farm in Ct. during the month of November. Orders fly in every year and people always ask for her. She said they are beautiful turkies you have strutting throught your place. "late"

Thanks for letting me share these Turkeys with you all~

They are not here today ... YET !

The group of wild turkeys came in this morning, but the lovely escapees from a Turkey farm were nowhere to be seen~

Yesterday they stayed around until dark ... then hit the woods for parts unknown~
LOL ... they were all over the roof of the house AND the roof of my car~

They were so tame ... they just came right up to us ... I put out wheat bread crumbs for them to nibble on ... but they were very well fed ... didn't seem interested in anything but socializing~
Go figure !

We do get some wonderful critters across the acreage ... it is just delightful~
