Gasparilla Isle oh Gasparilla, you are an emerald isle sea salt rocks splash tears carelessly at feet in pile lighthouse helps to find undercurrent direction lost when angry storms seize breath and soul in toss sea grapes surround you in land locked up tight blankets of velvet stars gently comfort you at night I walk upon your memories in whispering secrets you tell hidden between sand and water searching for the perfect shell these are sad sea stories but I listen as I’m told a heart that once beat in tune now empty in my hand is what I hold "no darkness has ever been deep enough to extinguish my personal knowledge of love" Anne Rice |
