This morning clearly must have
wandered off into the desert before it got to me;
for where I wake today is dry and lifeless.
My voice is parched; it seems long since I drank of Your Living water.

But it was careless of the night to wander afar,
sleep walking it must have been;
for every one knows that I would much rather
a river dweller be,

my door always open to hear the river's voice;
my daily walk close enough
to feel Your Spirit's mist on my face.

No more itinerant travels for me
my place is established, my feet firmly planted
but just to reassure, every chance they get
my toes inch in.

We don't always know
what lurks in the dark,
but the way you've phrased this
is priceless!
