             Walking in the Bush

Brilliant rays of morning sun reflect dew diamonds on the grass,
The pattern broken only by the footprints of a rabbit as it passed,
Near some willows weeping I saw a blue tongue lizard sleeping,
Stretched out flat upon a rock as if from granite cast.

The scent of eucalyptus from all city thoughts has stripped us
And made me realize the magic that the bush alone can bring,
For the magic of the moment on my heart is like a foment,
Exemplified a hundred times as I saw an eagle on the wing.

Softly blow the breezes that no way at all displeases,
Spreading a breath of fragrance in the sharp clear morning air,
Early hours in the bush containing, a lingering scent, remaining,
And gently ease away any sad feelings of despair.

Wild flowers in wild profusion create a grand allusion
Of some brilliant magic carpet that stretches far to see,
Their perfume as I ponder makes me hesitate and wonder
And realize the verdant bush is the place I want to be.

To a light like a moth attracted, no way will I be distracted
For sights and scents of bushland rejuvenates me full three-fold,
When I again go walking in the bush with pleasures stalking
My eyes will be wide open for all the beauty to behold.

Enjoyed your walk in the bush, Lindsay.  Isn't it amazing what one can see when the eyes are wide open?  It's like the "feeling" when the heart is open.
