We never know the day,
the time, nor hour,
it hangs in waiting,

coming like a thief,
taking us away,
never to bring us back,

no one is ever prepared,
the pain, hurt, separation,
sorrow loves no one,

All that is left,
memories, photos,
words on paper,

Every day, every minute,
should be valued a treasure,
words should be spoken lightly,

        

Words should be spoken deeply,
once it arrives, its final,
each of us bares a common ground,

we all have an appointment,
we wish we could cancel,
we wish we could delay,
one we never chose to make,

time is never on our side,
from the moment we are born,
our bodies begin dying,

Even though we are living,
slowly year by year,
we are actually dying,

When death comes to visit,
he never takes his shoes off,
but takes a soul instead.
