       Winter’s Abyss

On this Autumn-crystal night
of cool-bright moonlight
painted on the wall
where Summer’s last dreams
lean together…neglected…
in the dust of Spring’s promises,
wispy fog-phantoms dance
with moonbeams and shadows
  of the dusk’s desires,
to fading echoes of distant
   chimes
floating on the frosty air;
and, my heart is a broken castle
  standing sentinel…
on the edge of Love’s abandon
and the Winter’s dark abyss.

I was reading along, enjoying you somber images and their meaning, when this line took my breath away:

"and, my heart is a broken castle"

What more is there to say?

I'd never related winter's abyss and love's abandon so closely related, but after your poem, they bring up the very same emotions! Lovely put, beautiful.
