Oldest by default you see
     His brother died in bed
His siblings sung his praises
     Tu Santo was what they said
At age 5 he was the man of the house
     His father was detained
Across the Mexican boarder
     So little man was his name
His cousins were pachucas
     They wore blades up in there hair
He'd watch them fight
      Oh, what a sight
           Say cat fight and he was there.

At 17 he enlisted
      In our navy fair
Ready to fight for our country
      They said see you when you're mature
At 18 he enlisted in the army as you see
      He was eager to do his part
          In the Korean conflict
             For his country
He served his country well and
      got a wound here and there
But it was when he came home
      That his life went to hell
As he walked his last few miles home
       Someone hit him with a car
Left him to die all alone
       Thank God he wasn't ready to depart

He made it through okay
       With the help of some morphine
And the beautiful woman he married
       It all seemed like a bad dream
He had 4 doting children
       Who adored this dear man so
They gave him nine grandchildren
       Before he was to go

The last of the grandchildren
       Benefited so
As she lived the closest
       So he visited her the most
He'd take her out driving
       To the duck park and you see
He'd have to chase after her
       She was just a wee thing
His health it was failing now
       But he still drove around
I trusted God to protect them both
       Whilst they be out and around

His siblings that survive him
       Call him Santo don't you know
For this means Saint and for 20 years
       He's been on God's playground
