The Hunter’s Survival He clings to the cliffs with crooked claws, His eyes focused on the lonely moors, For the moment hunger he ignores, Not one single prey escapes his beady eye. He launches light as a lifting lark And soars in an ever widening ark, He must eat his fill before it’s dark, The fate of one is already doomed to die. A leveret leaps in the fading light, Now on it is fixed the eagles sight, The young hare oblivious to its plight, As the raptor falls, a single thought in store. On the downward dive he gathers speed, The young hare slowly starts to feed, Meat is the bird’s most urgent need, And in a flash the victim’s life is o’er. The crushing claws bring quick its end Against tallons cruel it cannot defend, Its blood and earth time soon will blend, Survivals story repeats itself once more. |

Lindsay, it was as if I was watching an episode of National Geographic on television. You appear to have an understanding, reverence, and respect, for nature and that is evident in your fine writing. Hugs to you, LP Linda |

"Survivals story repeats itself once more." Great observation, and story. JL ![]() Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. |

Lindsay - I don't really have the stomach for the cruelty of life but it is life in the wild and I enjoyed the read. Thank you. |

What Honeybunch said ... It is tough to watch such scenes, but Nature's ways are these. You expressed your thoughts well. Love, Margherita |

Thanks Arctic Wind, I have been a lover of wildlife since I was a small boy and have had eagles and falcons as pets. I was a very keen shooter in my teen age years but turned my priority around as I grew a little older. Now I wouldn't shoot a thing. Welcome to Pips. LindsayP |
