I’ve been nothing Lost or disoriented Still life Panorama Lift your hands Inevitably A curious pause A moment to breathe I’m starting again I know you don’t want to change And that nothing is what it used to be That beauty is a lie And lies are lacking in beauty With a little less We pushed too far Compensating for a lack of Just getting by Not quite ready Or trying too hard |

I'm afraid I don't see the overall theme of the poem, but I liked it's rhythm. ![]() |

Boy, I know only saw the theme but lived it once, and know it all too well. I loved this write and also was absorbed by your nome de plume, just lovely! I live where it rains most days actually, and I love the rain. |

Your words ring so true and wise. How often do we just "get by" barely scratching the surface of what we could really achieve. "That beauty is a lie And lies are lacking in beauty" This is truly a perfect line. Sometimes we have to lie to ourselves to see the beauty in people and things--it's a very sad truth. Take care, Amy "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" |
