Come Crashing Down Don't know if slowly has ever been my way --- love's always tended to smack me in the head and I fall on my face... sometimes to get up, and others . . . I stay there, beneath feet that wipe their souls on me. Laughing, until like an old carpet I’m worn out – of no use anymore, something to be thrown away. And today’s no different – I dropped my heart when she smiled, fell on my face again, and will lay there just so she can wipe her soul on me, while I fool myself into thinking it’s really me for whom she cares. I’ve never slowly fallen – just always come crashing down. © wesley james beard, jr. july 2007 |

Dear Jim (and this is not a Dear John note), if your words be true and not simply poetry (albeit emotively scribed) then I am wrapping you in love and saying, "It's her loss!" "and will lay there just so she can wipe her soul on me," ~ "soul" ~ so sad, yet cleverly put. Loving hug, Linda |
