Just down the hall, Towards the door on the left, At the bottom of the stairs, Amongst all the books on the shelves. In the cold empty kitchen, Where the light dare not dwell, In the heart of our home, That still carries your scent. The unfinished meal, Sits patiently still, So innocent, So loving, It longs to exist. The warmth of the sunrise, By the house on the lake, The words that were left unspoken, The ones we meant to say. The place where the rain fell, Washing all the tears from your eyes, The night the world stood still, As one of its angels died. These are the places, Our love now remains, I visit them always, In case the memories fade, I’m haunted by silence, And all the pain that it brings, Consumed by its darkness, Denied of my dreams. |
