Strut-strut, peck-peck, this ground’s a mess
and the chicken knows
Farmer Brown has sold his life
to the devil’s own
for however long it takes
to evolve into the soul.

And how the wind of circumstances
blows sustenance around
in force of change and movement
but no. no. no. no chicken he
to follow mindlessly
to get to where he should have been
eons ago.

So blows the wind the storm of need
into that farmer’s mind
but, tut-tut-tut, no matter, love
vegetarians don’t feed
on what another needs.

Farmer Brown, the chicken knows
it leaves a trail where’er it goes
but jiggle, wiggle, so the feet
to overstep the known
and evolve into the soul!

What's good for the chicken might be bad for the Farmer.
Though this is somehow enigmatic to me, you stir my attention as always and I appreciate those thoughts about soul evolution.

Hi Margherita - Well, that's just it - the farmer can't honour the "need" and it's okay to not want to even though knowing of another's want (vegetarians vs meat eaters). That chicken on this planet earth which in a way contributes to the mess, is maybe saying that we have to step over the mess and become more soulful while still being ourselves. Yep - it's okay to not want but it's not okay to deny the soul and refuse to give it life. Hmm? Suppose it's still a bit enigmatic but what is life without the mystery? Bit of a preachy chicken, isn't it? I apologize on its behalf.

Linda, you make me smile. Maybe we've got to pay attention to our thoughts and feelings because, really, at the end of the day they are all we can truly own. It's like looking after a house, car, etc., only, I think, very much more important. Hmm? Cleaning a car is perhaps like cleaning a mind - not long before it's a mess again.
