         i thought i could hack it

without your racket

you told me your Slazenger racquet

          would never be there

waiting to share the impact of me finding out that you really do care

I’m trying to fight giving in to despair

       despite what you declare

but I don’t think you’ll ever stare

at what I write for you with a pair

              of adoring eyes
