Its Three Degrees
In Chicago Today

I wondered why
a woman had a black panther
tattoed upon her thigh.
Not preferring to ask her why
I speculated as to the reasons why.
Once while drinking spicy rum
in a cozy jungle bar
she had admired
a black panther from afar.
As she stood to depart
the panther reached out
and embraced her heart.
From that day forth
she lost her desire to fear
and upon her thigh
her beloved panther
always remains near.
