I don’t let work get in the way I’ve seen it all before You retire at sixty three Then Die at sixty four The governments so happy It lets them off the hook The money that you paid them With open hands they took Now they have another plan With health improving too Now you must work on and on Retire at seventy two…. |

I suppose some are lucky and have poverty schemes (ie a pension that provides enough money for either food shelter or heat but not quite all three) that is if someone hasnt "robbed the fund" Pensions are always a tricky subject... |

I like this Fairplay... Do I correctly detect that you are female? I have often wondered why our fine government (please read previous two words in overly sarcastic voice) believes that women and men should have different retirement ages. It seems a little unfair to me given that women live longer than men, on average anyway, that women should get to retire earlier! Mind you as you pointed out in this poem we shouldn't look foward to retirement in this fine country of ours (again insert sarcasm where appropriate!) given that we will freeze, starve or lose our homes, perhaps all three! |
