Angelo’s hanging the corner
with his pals,
smoking their fags.

The clock up top City Hall
strikes twelve.

Cars out in the street
are cruising around
with funny-guys
looking them over.

It’s too hot to go home
and go to sleep.

It’s a small world.
It’s his corner.

No use venturing
out from the corner,
you might get beat-up.

He’s small like Felix was.
It runs in the family.

Yeah, he can
handle his hands good.
Felix taught him how.

Sometimes you need
more than your hands.

He doesn’t like
to carry his knife,
he hasn’t learned
how to hold it right,
and he keeps cutting
on his own fingers,
that’s way embarrassing.

He doesn’t have
the knack yet.

That’ll come with practice,
and a stronger hand.

Felix is working with him on that.

You have to know these things,
out on the corner.

It’s dark.

Bobby

Definitely a low rent district feeling this
gives the reader.

James,

I pleased it worked for you.

Magnus,

Why, yes it is.  It’s home and we love it.

Thank you both for reading.
