THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY

Do u ever look back and think about that one.
The someone that got away.
Do u think about that special u could have done to save what u had.
You think about all the great times u had.
You wish that they would just come back.
You think about them and the feelings u had rush back over you.
This is when u know that you should have been with that special someone forever.
You should have fought a little harder to keep what u had.

I know all to well what this is like.
The girl of my dreams the one I spent 4 years of my life with.
She meet another guy, why did she want to meet him.
What did I do so bad.
Well its simple I didn’t try hard enough and tell her how much she meant to me.
Why didn’t I tell her... I really don’t know.
I miss going to her house in the morning and kissing her.
I miss everything about her.
Why didn’t I try harder I’ve been asking myself.

I have to tell u this tho.
She tried for 2 years to get me to see what I had.
I was blind and deaf to what I had.
Then when she wanted to move on I could see... clear as day.
Was it to late... is it ever to late for love.
I didn’t tend to her feelings like I should have,
I wasn’t there for her when I should have been.
Why O Why couldn’t I see.

I know that everyone on this plant wants to understand love.
I know we all try to understand it but I come to you to ask,
is it ever to late to give up on the one you love.

This hit home way too hard. The thing is... i didnt ever get a chance to date/go out with her. we both wanted to, she just lived in another city about 30 minutes away...but our connection was strong.  your right when u say that when we think about them the feelings come rushing back....they knock us over pretty much. now shes some hours away and i havent talked to her in about 2 yrs. nuff bout me...good write. from the heart.

Nice flow of your heart...
We want to believe that when someone chooses to spend some time with us in a relationship they will never depart unless we want them to...
This is a hard lesson to learn...not everyone we care for will stay in our lives...some will move on for their own reasons...as we will move on for ours.
This lesson teaches me to appreciate every moment I spend with someone I care for...as there is no guarantee for a given amount of time...James

Never too late! If it is meant to be it will be!

Yes, I understand where you are coming from!

J. M. Barrie, the playwright, may have said it best when he wrote, “God gave us memories so that we might have roses in December.”
