Beyond the Music of Her Soul

             Along angry streets
             of shimmering haze
             stifling in doorways,
             where a brutal sun rages
             to simmer in silence,
             and time is too loud
             as destiny thunders,
             for poet-frail 'voices'
               to soar,
             (on wings of disconsolate
               words)
             through the dust and
               the boredom,
             and all that is lost...
             beyond the music
              of her soul!

What a magnificent treat to read --
"and time is too loud" -- so well said!

The alliteration of all those "s"es make this summer write fry... I can feel the heat rising from it.

this spoke volumns and I could invision a young girl, dancing alone in her room...

Secondhanddreampoet,

Well, I don't know about the boredom.  The heats around right now, and it might get dusty, and it's loud and somewhat brazen, but I can't find any boredom here in town.

Actually, a little boredom wouldn't be all that bad, or unwelcome.

this shimmers and sizzles
and tonight
the loudness will return

thunderstorms on the horizon....
and I look forward to more thunder from your fine quill

Again lovely imagery and great use of alliteration in this piece. Your free verse has such nice flow...something that not everyone understands that all poetry must have
