Saturday Morning i read poetry in the car it’s hot today the dogs are breathing down my neck begging for one more cookie maybe two and people stop to pet them and say how cute they are they eat it up i smile proud of them but wanting to get back to the book in my hands as I wait in the grocery store parking lot for my mother she buys fruits and vegetables candy bars tucked among the cucumbers i pretend not to see them as I load her groceries listening to her with one ear and thinking of the words i have read thinking that dreams are simply one’s future reality i pet the dogs panting down my neck they beg for just one more cookie – well, maybe two and i drive home thinking of poetry --- Alison [This message has been edited by aziza (07-07-2007 11:46 PM).] |

Allison, you painted a mode and a scene very well within this poem, I envy the dogs...and I snitched the candy bar. (smile) Nice write! |

I love the scene you set. It felt like a poetic narrative of a movie |

I enjoy reading 'realism'/"slice of life" writes. [something I have never been able to do!] Applause! |

Dear Alison, this is the writing of realism and the moment, your love of poetry, your dogs and your mother, moments to cherish my friend and one that I have enjoyed with you. Thanks. Have a great day. Rick |

Alison, ================================ and thinking of the words i have read thinking that dreams are simply one’s future reality ================================ If you can't dream it you can't live it. This is a wonderful write. Makes me want to get another dog. Well done! If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, |

Sometimes I write poetry in the car...going 60 mph on the freeway...and they think driving while talking on the cell phone is dangerous...rarely...James |
