sun turns his yellow face to summer earth grows warm the man with soft brown hands whispers in my ear listen do you hear Rio calling hot beach sand sears my feet primordial tide pool longs to cool me clouds sing minha terra notes tumbling through my uncombed hair the man with soft brown hands mixes barnacle memories on the spines of upturned boats paints them on the side of the sky for me alone to see he beckons I lean into his smell tupelo honey and old brandy do you like this he asks tucking brush between his teeth the way I love it and I realize I am going to have to give up sad at least for the rest of the summer |

I've read this several times while at work and couldn't reply then. This has a beautiful and melancholy feel to it, but those last lines were my favorite for many reasons Kate. oh gawd lady, you touch right where it is so needed some times. Hugs you. |
