I'm not good at good-bye
would rather just disappear
perhaps the greatest comfort ever
are emotions at the
height of intimacy
showers great adoration
communicates
bottomless feelings
I don't know
how to say adieu
when the mad dog of
blackness approaches
treading uncharted courses
reluctance pushes courage
moment to moment
half hidden shapes
are amputations of meaning
listening becomes a fortress of
setting a mind to rest
perhaps the real secret
deaf ears are ones
that walk away last
they perceive
the slightest hum

don't fear the silence
come
sit beside me
ideas and events become
great beauty

hold my hand

our sacred time with nature
has begun
standing on a bridge
of golden opportunity

pushes through
primeval impasse
I hear a hoarse whistle
far away
you cry, "don't go!"
But I whisper with poignant eyes
"I can't stay?"

I want to do this
with dignity
my greatest fear
...loosing the ability to be me...

on those eternal reefs
of pure land
saying good bye to life
is whispering
from a boat coming through
drifting
drifting
or'r ribbons
of black water
that yet hold no meaning
scrubbing my cold body
mysteriously tender night
calls me like a reward

I've never been
good with good-bye

footnote:  my 90 year ol' mother is presently very ill
she speaks of death...
I ask her, "Lets take it day by day?"
she replies
"ok"

LeeJ,

Hot dog!

I really like the stream of consciousness way this is written--shades of Molly Bloom's soliloquy from James Joyce's "Ulysses".

Awwww, I am so sorry your mother is ill. God Bless you all. I'm not very good at goodbyes, either. My mother isn't in very good health, either. Just the thought of her no longer being here just tears me up.

LeeJ,
I also love this stream of consciousness,
so beautifully natural. You have really
touched my heart.  K

So sorry to hear about your mother, LeeJ.  I too am not good with goodbyes of any kind so I was particularly moved by your words which, of course, are excellent as usual.  May you find the strength you need over this trying time.  *hugs* Helen

powerfully emotive 'write'!

I am especially fond of the lines:

"mysteriously tender night
calls me like a reward"

applause!!

[my mother (age 92) is currently 'dying by
inches' from ovarian cancer...it is so hard
  to (helplessly) watch...particularly when
someone has been part of ones life so very
  long!]

Nice writing...I'm not good at goodbye's either...no one wants to lose someone they care for...but indeed it is something we will all go through in our lifetime...take care...James

My Mom and I went through this last winter.  She is doing much better, but I lived these lines with her.

Thank you for expressing them so eloquently.
