No news is Good News I learned in my youth Though now I am older It’s far from the truth People stop caring Your out on your own Past helping the ones You brought up at home Years are advancing? Time starts slipping by fast Neither ornament nor use Just a blast from the past Ah but I’m having fun Not a care in the world My charges all done New life has unfurled To pass on the good news Would be a delight While others still struggle Complain time is tight I haven’t down shifted That wasn’t my aim More like Uplifted On top of life’s game I’m older and wiser Yet still well and fit As for the Rat Race I don’t miss it one bit See I led a charmed life Servants and all Then stepped down quickly In case I wouldfall You raised the standards Made life so tough Collapsed all our empires If that wasn’t enough Now No news is good news Just means I am right You’re too busy working Far into the night In front of my gravestone Then bury me deep My secrets go with me I wont loose any sleep Won’t tell where I’m going So it’s your turn to choose IfNo News is Good News Win Draw or Loose? |

Fairplay, Nice use of end rhymes. This moves along well. Bobby |

I like the story! Heck with the rhyme in time. This is a great write. I could hear Humphrey Bogart, or William Holden in each line. Great story. JL What I used to do with one hand tied behind my back now requires every muscle in my body, cohesively. |

I loved it. Especially; I haven’t down shifted That wasn’t my aim More like Uplifted On top of life’s game |

Eric, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ No news is Good News I learned in my youth Though now I am older It’s far from the truth People stop caring Your out on your own Past helping the ones You brought up at home Years are advancing? Time starts slipping by fast Neither ornament nor use Just a blast from the past ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just found this, forgetting the life story (which seems to be a trait of yours)...LOL The first three stanzas of this one make an extremely good stand alone piece. I feel there is more said in these 3 stanzas than the rest of the stanzas put together, Kudos, Ivor |
