Brief Encounters

Two come together;
meeting in unlikely places,
at unlikely times,
for undetermined moments,

parting again
into separateness,
future contact certainly unlikely,
only reveling in what was,

dreaming of what might of been,
if time and place,
life and circumstances
were somehow changed,

to live again those joyous moment of non-reality,
pushing back the pain or reality,
the responsibilities of authentic living,

pausing so fleetingly to
remember when,
where, what, and whom.

Dreams and memories are short,
yet completely necessary to
strengthen the soul to live on
in the uncertainty of this time,

in order to regret not the brevity of what is past,
but enjoy and move on
to the next unexpected moment of
unplanned serendipitous encounter

when, with no regard for time or longevity,
two come together
molding the strength of each other’s depth-core,
changed by what was,

So each benefits mutually,
parting, yet impacted,
from the briefest encounters.
