Waves of heat rise and dance from the pavement, as people seem to languish on the street. This isn’t the place for the affluent, for they hide away at summer retreats. Cool water sprays from the fire hydrant, as we listen to the childrens’ laughter. Because no one can tell them that they can’t find the happiness that they are after. Now, these simple things will bring them pleasure as joy is never far from where they seek. Some people use money as a measure for the happiness of which others speak. But the truth is found in a child’s eyes, for their happiness they cannot disguise |

I really liked this one. I like believing that happiness and wealth are separate entities. |

This poem is very true, and brought up some good points. However, I would prefer joy over happiness because it is a feeling that never leaves. True joy that is. Peace. Love. Forgiveness. |

Well done. The simple joys of life are self evident...always. Pleasing read. |
