I give myself too much credit For happiness and luck, Walking with a fake confidence As if I were in a lucid dream Choosing this path but not that one A king without a crown A comedian witout a punchline A man yet to find his heart... I give myself too much credit For the intelligence I seek, Boasting with educated talk and multiple books, To fool the faces of wisdom; Because in this world I was born not to contradict-- I only wanted to prove them wrong... I give myself too much credit For receiving the love of woman after woman, With my dimpled smile and sweet words, A chocolate complexion and envied body; But still my bed feels cold and lonely When looking into the eyes of her soul Where again I see the reflection of insecurity... I give myself too much credit For knowing right from wrong For smelling innocence in the white rose For falling in love again and again For the love God has for me For the love I have for God For living and dying to see the next day... Each of us has these moments of insecurity. To be strong enough to admit this, is a strength in and of itself. You are such a deep thinker, and it shows so beautifully in your art. Nice to read you again. ![]() |

Each time I read you, your self-portrait reveals great depth and warmth. My favorite color for oil portraits is burnt umber. Your inner spirit glows through your words, in layers of soft burnt umber. Thank you, for sharing this warm tender side of you. |
