Summer's Dream, Slipping Away...

In brilliant summer's golden haze
I chanced on by and caught your gaze,
you watched the field in brillantine
caught in daytime's daylight dream...

I watched the scene when twilight came
it called softly, your sweet name
and walked we did, in summer's dream
in all its hues of gold and green...

without a word and nary a touch
we said "I love you, very much"
from gaze to gaze we slipped on in
in summer's shadows, twilight dim...

all the delights of summer held
when our gaze took hold to meld
my memory, yours, your memory, mine,
stopped to hear the ivy twine...

and knowing that I could not stay,
I told you that I must go away
so I went, leaving you behind
in summer's heat, under moonlit sky...

so now in fantasy's golden haze
I'll chance upon you, catch your gaze,
as you walk o'er fields in brillantine
caught in some daytime's daylight dream...

Sunshine,

I had a problem with your use of "brillantine".  The dictionary meanings I have don't seem to make much sense.

Hi Sissie

without a word and nary a touch
we said "I love you, very much"
from gaze to gaze we slipped on in
in summer's shadows, twilight dim

No matter the season, a special look can carry them all, I think.  This one warmed me.

Karilea

"and knowing that I could not stay,
I told you that I must go away
so I went, leaving you behind
in summer's heat, under moonlit sky..."

if you but knew how that speaks to me today
oh
that's right
you do

a sad beauty

profound
especially this

without a word and nary a touch
we said "I love you, very much"
from gaze to gaze we slipped on in
in summer's shadows, twilight dim...

oh, how this took me to a particular moment
of which captured my being...
Your words simply drift me off to that special place in time
magnificant writing dear

Sweetly sentimental, warmly ornamental.
You had me almost singing, as I read this.

That's what dreams do, slip away....sometimes I think that's all they do.
